Aston Villa - Villa Park
Villa Park became an all-seater stadium in the 1994/95 season,
when the Holte End stand was rebuilt to conform to the Taylor Report. REIDsteel designed, fabricated and
erected two stands at Villa Park.
The first was the Doug Ellis Stand, a two-tiered stand which was
completely rebuilt during the summer of 1993, replacing the old single
tiered structure. The stand has a row of executive boxes dividing the
tiers and a capacity of 13,472.
The second was the Holte End Stand; the largest End Stand in Europe.
Built using a King Truss system, the front third of the roof slopes
forward slightly. It was one days work for two 500 tonne cranes and 8 REIDsteel erectors to lift and
manoeuvre the truss into position, and bolt it to the end columns using
104 36mm diameter high tensile bolts. The two-tiered stand was
completed in 1994, and has a capacity of 9081.
